It all began in 2014 with Team Onna Bugeisha, a Women’s Only Kickboxing program. With the support of some important key mentors, our Head Coach Dawn “Coach D” took a leap and opened her own business with the main goal to empower women to train, increase the female presence on the mats, and to share her love for Martial Arts. What started out as a mighty group of 18 women has transformed into what Sudbury Kickboxing Academy is today, an inclusive environment where men & women of all levels of experience work together, encourage each other, and welcome all newcomers.
The experience on our mats is vast and our coaching team is stacked. Our coaches are specialists in their own disciplines; they work with everyone from fitness based to competitive level members. Our own Coach D has been a competitor, reaching the world stage on numerous occasions, and is now a coach. She has stood on the podium in 2015 at WAKO Worlds and coached our Canadian National Team at the 2022 WAKO Pan Ams.
As a strong and united team, we are always looking for opportunities to learn and grow. This approach is one of the reasons that Sudbury Kickboxing Academy continues to thrive.
Dawn works with everyone from newcomers entering the fitness world for their first time to competitors, training them to National Championships.
